Description:Military SF is a common term for novels featuring lots of combat, but you rarely hear the term military fantasy even though works like the Lord Of The Rings feature a huge amount of fighting between individuals and armies. Why does SF dealing with war get consigned to a sub-genre while fantasies that include war are regarded as just part of mainstream fantasy writing?
